An 8-foot meteorological balloon was inserted in an enclosed, semi-airtight cube (8 x 8 x 8 feet). When a viewer approached the cube, a motion detector triggered the blower that was sucking the air out. A negative pressure inside the cube caused the balloon to inflate, allowing a person to climb inside through the round opening and experience the sphere.
